Raising Up Warriors

In his Warrior presentation JR challenges stereotypical images of masculinity and calls boys and men to rise up to be the warriors they were born to be. JR facilitates workshops and raises awareness, educating people on what violence against women looks like and what we all can do to stop it. JR is committed to this cause because it is a personal one. As a young boy he witnessed his mother and sister suffer violence at the hands of men in their lives. JR is an ambassador for BC’s Ending the Violence Association, Be More Than a Bystander campaign.

Overcoming Obstacles

“What it’s really about and what distinguishes successful people from unsuccessful people is, are you willing to learn from your mistakes?” Are you willing to get back up time and time again?” JR faced numerous and seemingly insurmountable obstacles throughout his life; including poverty, abuse and neglect, rejection, even the obstacles he created for himself by making poor life choices. In this presentation JR inspires with his personal stories of tragedy and triumph and the tools it took to conquer the obstacles in his life. JR’s story is proof that with hard work and perseverance, you can overcome anything.

Healing After Sexual Abuse

1 in 3 females and 1 in 6 males in Canada experience some form of sexual abuse before the age of 18. The shame and stigma associated with sexual abuse is enabled by silence. After being sexually abused as boy, JR finally found his voice and broke his silence, shedding the shame and shattering the stigma of sexual abuse. In this powerful presentation JR opens the conversation for healing to begin.

Alozie: My Great Journey to Redemption

JR’s birth name is Alozie Junior. Many began calling him JR, short for Junior, and the name stuck. But those close to JR know how meaningful his birth name is to him and how foretelling it would be. Alozie means great journey in Nigerian and that is exactly what JR’s life has been. In this presentation JR walks the audience through the story of his life; the ups, the downs, the good, the bad. JR’s honesty is refreshing, his story is captivating, and his humor eases the audience through his journey to redemption. JR has also spoken on several other topics, including bullying, importance of education, and the effects of drugs and alcohol, just to name a few.
